Obituary for Manfred Christian Haefele

HAEFELE, Manfred

Manfred Christian Haefele born April 14,1947, went to his final rest on June 28, 2019 with his wife Gerlinde and family friends by his side. He will be missed by his wife of 50 years Gerlinde Haefele (nee Christ). He was father of Torsten Haefele (Angie) and “Daddies Girl” Kerstin MacKay (Kevin).
Grandfather of Nathaniel Ingram Haefele and Brianne Ingram Haefele. He will be missed by his sister Heidi Coddington (late Richard) of Kansas, Dieter Copeland (Edith) of Germany, Hiltrud Heydt (Detlef) of Germany, Helga Geil (Bernt) of Germany, Rainer Christ (Britta), Elke Schoepel (Steffan) of Germany, many nieces and nephews and special friends Betty and Dan Phillion , Betty Ann and Winston Hoddy and the lunch group. He defied Multiple Myeloma for 15 years and later Renal disease and then Heart failure with dignity and courage. The Cancer Clinic and Dialysis Unit became his second home and he enjoyed all the special care and attention from his special nurses. Manfred immigrated from Germany to Canada in 1975 with his family and worked at Algoma Steel until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, coaching soccer and being a scout leader. Thank you to the Oncology unit and Renal unit staff, Dr Berry, Dr Shaffie, and Shirley Pulkinen, Dr Spadafora and Dr Hill and Cindy for many years of excellent care. To Precy, Mary, Katarina and Rita Manarino thank you for your care at home. Family and friends may visit Zion Lutheran Church (189 Upton Rd) on Thursday July 4, 2019 from 4:30pm until time of service at 6:00pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Manfred’s memory may be made to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund, Renal Dialysis Unit or to the Zion Lutheran church.
